Bill Ramseyer (1972-1990)

Bill Ramseyer began his Wilmington College career as head football coach in 1972, a position he held for 19 seasons. The winningest football coach in program history, he achieved 17 consecutive winning seasons with a record of 114-58-4. Three Fightin' Quaker teams qualified for the NAIA Playoffs including the 1980 team that made the NAIA national championship game. Ramseyer was also WC's director of athletics for the final 14 years of his tenure. After Wilmington, he started the football program at the University of Virginia-Wise and the Cavaliers were in the playoffs four years later.
