(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Quakers Men's Track & Field team hosted the JENNASTRONG Track & Field Invitational Saturday at Wilmington College for the first time since 2018. They won the event with 168 team points as 21 individuals scored plus four relay teams.
Leading the way was sophomore
Carson Miles, who finished second in the Long Jump and third in the High Jump for 14 total points. He had a leap of 6.00m on his final jump of the competition for eight points. He cleared 1.88m on his second attempt in the high jump for six points.
Five other Quakers won one event on the afternoon. Freshman
Keegan Kidd won the 800 Meter Run in a career best time of 1:57.80 for 10 points. Junior
Gabe Moore ran a career best time of 32:08.42 in the 10,000 Meter Run to win by over a minute and a half and score 10 points.
Noah Tobin ran a facility record and the 10th best time in Division III this season in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, a career best time of 9:11.92 to win by over 50 seconds for 10 points. Senior
Brady Vilvens was the only athlete to clear 1.93 meters to win the High Jump and score 10 points for the Quakers.
Senior
Nathen Borgan set a facility record in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 60.36m on his fourth throw to score 10 points for the Quakers. Senior
Justin Shuga scored nine total points on the day between the Shot Put and Discus Throw. He was third in the shot put with a mark of 14.21m on his very first throw of the competition for six points and took sixth in the discus throw at 39.85m on his second throw for three more points.
A handful of Quakers scored eight points during the meet. Junior
De'Anta Sanon ran a career best time of 11.18 seconds in the 100 Meter Dash for second place and eight points. Sophomore
Donovan Mosley was second in the 400 Meter Dash with a career best time of 50.95 seconds, just missing out on first as Thomas More University's Keegan Mehr took first in 50.90 seconds.
Graduate Student
Simon Heys and Cedarville University's Kolson Kytta were neck and neck in the 1,500 Meter Run, but Kytta just beat Heys at 3:56.44 to Simon's 3:56.64. The final Quaker to score eight points was senior
JJ Durr, who was second in the Hammer Throw at 57.70m.
Sophomore
Brendan Bornemann ran a career best time of 51.58 seconds in the 400 Meter Dash to take third place and score six points. Freshman
Kai Smith finished fifth in the 200 Meter Dash for four points at 23.33 seconds and was seventh in the 100 Meter Dash for two points at 11.42 seconds.
Freshman
Asher LeBeau competed in the 110 Meter and 400 Meter Hurdles for the first time in his career. He was seventh in the 110 hurdles at 18.38 seconds for two points and fifth in the 400 hurdles at 1:01.53 for four points.
Freshman
Gustav Jonsson was fifth in the Javelin Throw with a throw of 35.09m on his first throw of the competition. In the Discus Throw, he was eighth with a mark of 37.87m on throws three and four.
Trey Sparks and
Ethan Brewer both finished with four points in one event. Sparks cleared 1.78m for fifth in the High Jump while Brewer had a leap of 5.56m in the Long Jump.
Khairi Noldon finished right behind Brewer in the Long Jump at 5.55m on his third attempt.
Junior
Mike Soltis finished sixth in the Shot Put with a toss of 13.53m on his first attempt. In the 1,500 Meter Run, junior
Tate Yoder scored one point with a time of 4:08.47 for eighth place. Freshman
Isaac Burns finished eighth in the Javelin Throw with a mark of 32.38m on his second attempt.
Wilmington had a pair of teams score in the 4x400 Meter Relay and the 4x800 Meter Relay. Sanon, Mosley,
Cairo Vanterpool, and Bornemann took first in the 4x400 with a time of 3:29.24 while
Mack Tillman,
Isaiah Early,
Sammy Scott, and
Samuel Alexander were fifth at 4:13.02.
In the 4x800, Heys, Yoder, Kidd, and Tobin took third at 8:25.26 while
Cameron Chatfield,
Blake Kanniard,
Bryson Robinette, and
Henry Hildebrandt finished fifth with a time of 9:05.59.
