Borgan, Durr, Heys, Shuga, and Tobin Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

(GREENWOOD, Ind.) – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their 2025 Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country teams today and the Wilmington College men's team had five athletes honored.

To be considered, you must be a sophomore or higher both academically and athletically and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Athletically, you must have done one of the following: had a top-50 individual performance at your respective 2024 NCAA regional race or in track & field had a top-50 regional ranking in a single event (indoor or outdoor).

Being honored for the third time in his career is Quakers graduate student Simon Heys, while graduate student Noah Tobin and senior Nathen Borgan are both earning the honor for the second time in their careers. Heys has also earned CSC Academic All-American status twice in his career (2022 and 2023).

First time Academic All-District honorees for Wilmington are seniors JJ Durr and Justin Shuga.

Heys was a Sport Management & Communication Arts-Digital Media Production major during his undergraduate years before joining the Master of Organizational Leadership program this academic year. Heys led the Great Lakes region in the 5000 Meter Run this spring and was second in the 10,000 Meter Run, while also sitting ninth in the 1500 Meter Run. He was third nationally in the 5000 and 20th nationally in the 10,000. He advanced to nationals, where he finished as a First Team All-American (8th) in the 10,000 Meter Run.

Borgan was a Business Administration-Finance major as an undergraduate student before joining the Quakers Master of Organizational Leadership program. He led not only the Great Lakes region, but the country in the Hammer Throw this season and was third in the region and fifth in the country in the Weight Throw. He went on to be a First Team All-American in the Weight Throw (4th) before winning the National Championship in the Hammer Throw last month.

Tobin was a Sport Management major who also became a part of the Master of Organizational Leadership program. He finished third at the Great Lakes Region Cross Country Championships and was also top-50 in several events in track & field regionally. He was Top-50 indoors in the 5000 Meter Run (5th), 3000 Meter Run (11th), and the Mile (36th). Outdoors, he was Top-50 in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase (4th), 5000 (6th), and 10,000 (8th).

Durr was an Exercise Science major who led the entire country in the Weight Throw and was second in the Hammer Throw this season. He won the National Championship in the Weight Throw and was a First Team All-American (4th) in the Hammer Throw.

Shuga was an Exercise Science-Pre-Athletic Training major for the Quakers. Indoors, he was sixth in the Weight Throw in the Great Lakes region and qualified for nationals in the event. He was also 19th in the Shot Put. Outdoors, he was 8th in the Hammer Throw in the region, 22nd in the Shot Put and tied for 27th in the Discus.
