Men's Track & Field Finishes Sixth at Otterbein Twilight Friday Night

(WESTERVILLE, Ohio/CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.) – The Wilmington College men's track & field team competed at the Otterbein Twilight meet today, while Simon Heys and Noah Tobin competed in the 10,000 Meter Run at the Virginia Challenge, hosted by the University of Virginia. At Otterbein, Wilmington finished in sixth place as a team with 61 points.

In Virginia, Heys won the 10,000 Meter Run against all NCAA Division I competition outside of one other Division III runner with a time of 29:49.52. This time is currently good for 16th in Division III this season. Tobin finished seventh in a time of 31:06.56.

The Quakers best overall event at Otterbein was the Hammer Throw, where Nathen Borgan, JJ Durr, and Justin Shuga finished first, second, and third in the event. Borgan won with a mark of 62.16m on his second throw to score 10 points for Wilmington. Durr hit a season best mark of 61.22m on his final throw of the day for eight points. Shuga had a career best toss of 55.50m on throw number five to score six points for the Quakers. Durr's mark currently puts him second in Division III this season behind Borgan while Shuga's mark sits him at 24th.

Shuga also competed for Wilmington in the Shot Put and took eighth with a throw of 14.02m on his first attempt of the competition for four points. Also scoring in the Shot Put for Wilmington was Mike Soltis, who took 10th place for two points with a mark of 13.55m on his third throw.

The Quakers had a pair of athletes score points in the High Jump in Brady Vilvens and De'Anta Sanon. Vilvens cleared 2.03m on his first try before missing at 2.06m to finish in second and score eight points. Sanon, competing in the event for the first time collegiately, cleared 2.00m on his second attempt before missing at 2.03m to finish third and score six points.

Vilvens scored in the Triple Jump with a leap of 13.11m on his third jump for sixth place and three points. Khairi Noldon also scored for Wilmington in the event, taking seventh with a jump of 12.75m on his last attempt of the day for two points.

The final two individual scorers were Keegan Kidd and Gabe Moore. Kidd was fifth in the 800 Meter Run with a career best time of 1:57.14 for fifth place and four points. Moore took eighth place for two points in the fast heat of the 5000 Meter Run, crushing his previous personal best in the event and running a time of 15:34.37.

In the 4x400 Meter Relay, Sanon, Donovan Mosley, Brendan Bornemann, and Kidd finished in fourth for five points with a time of 3:26.94.

The team of Mosley, Sanon, Logan Kent, and Mackenzie Tillman were eighth in the 4x100 Meter Relay with the program's season best time of 42.76 seconds for one point. Cedarville University just bested them in seventh at 42.74 seconds.
