Men's Track & Field Performs Well at Scots Invitational in Tennessee

(MARYVILLE, Tenn.) – The Wilmington College men's track & field team competed in an unscored Scots Invitational the last two days, hosted by Maryville College (Tenn.).

Brady Vilvens and Carson Miles also competed for Wilmington at the Division III All-Ohio Championships in the High Jump. Vilvens finished third with a clearance of 1.96m on his second attempt before failing at 2.06m. Miles cleared a career best 1.91m on his third attempt before falling out at 1.96m for a sixth-place finish.

In Maryville, Tate Yoder, Gabe Moore, and Henry Hildebrandt all had top-three finishes in a pair of distance events. Yoder won the 3000 Meter Run yesterday in a time of 8:59.37, while Moore finished second at 9:03.84 and Hildebrandt was third in 9:45.48. Moore crushed his previous career best in the event by nearly 40 seconds while this was the first time running the event outdoors for Hildebrandt.

Moore and Hildebrandt also competed in the 1500 Meter Run this afternoon. Moore won in 4:22.08 while Hildebrandt took third in his first time ever in the event collegiately at 4:27.02. Yoder took sixth in the 800 Meter Run with a personal best time of 2:02.71 while Keegan Kidd finished fourth in a time of 2:00.11.

The Hammer Throw was an incredibly successful event for Wilmington as they finished first, second, third, and fourth yesterday. Nathen Borgan won with a toss of 61.12m on his final throw of the day, while JJ Durr took second at 58.63m on his first throw of the day. Justin Shuga hit 52.78m on his final throw of the competition for third place. Gustav Jonsson was fourth with a toss of 39.04m on his fifth throw.

The Javelin Throw also saw four Quakers in the top eight. Cameron Chatfield hit a new personal best by well over four meters at 38.36m on his first throw. Chris Powers also had a personal best by nearly four meters at 35.18m on his third throw for third place. Donovan Mosley hit 31.05m on his first throw for a personal best by over a meter and a fifth-place finish while Isaac Burns took sixth at 30.57m on his first throw of the competition.

Wilmington had six athletes in the top eight of the Shot Put. Shuga won with a mark of 13.76m on his third throw. Mike Soltis was second at 13.37m on his second toss of the day. Ayden Clemons had a personal best outdoor shot put mark of 12.60m on his third throw. Dylan Alltop finished in fifth at 12.30m on his fifth throw of the afternoon. Elijah Newman had a personal best outdoor shot put mark of 11.18m on his fourth throw for eighth place. 

The Quakers had five athletes in the top seven of the Discus Throw. Durr won at 41.77m on his last throw while Jonsson finished second with a personal best mark of 40.66m on his last throw of the day. Shuga hit 39.23m in his second attempt for third place while Borgan finished fourth with a toss of 38.10m on his second throw. Alltop was seventh with a mark of 36.09m in his fifth attempt of the competition. 

Mack Tillman took sixth in a pair of sprint events. He qualified for the 100 Meter Dash final at 11.38 seconds before he ran an 11.42 in the finals. In the 200 Meter Dash, he was sixth with a time of 23.26 seconds.

Khairi Noldon hit a personal best outdoor Triple Jump and overall Triple Jump with a leap of 12.79m on his fifth jump of the day for a second-place finish. He also had a personal best outdoor Long Jump of 5.73m on his second attempt to finish in third place.

A pair of Quakers placed in the 400 Meter Dash in Brendan Bornemann and Jase Edmonson. Bornemann finished fourth at 52.33 seconds while Edmonson ran an outdoor and overall personal best time of 53.57 seconds.

Asher LeBeau beat his time from last week's meet for a new personal best time in the 400 Meter Hurdles at 1:00.85 for a fourth-place finish.

Both the Quakers 4x100 Meter Relay and 4x400 Meter Relay teams finished first. In their first 4x100 outing of the season, Mosley, Noldon, Logan Kent, and Tillman finished with a time of 44.15 seconds.

The 4x400 Meter Relay team of Mosley, Bornemann, Kidd, and Kent took first in a time of 3:26.20, winning by over seven seconds.

The Quakers will have athletes at both the Otterbein Twilight and Jesse Owens Classic meets at Otterbein University and Ohio State University on Friday.
