The Wilmington College baseball team committed six errors, leading to six unearned runs, and the Fightin' Quakers dropped their home finale, 9-2, Wednesday to Wittenberg in non-conference action at Delaney-Tewksbury Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• A bout of wildness in the sixth inning enabled the visitors to break the 2-all tie. A one-out walk loaded the bases, and then another walk brought home the go-ahead run. Then, a misplayed grounder back to the pitcher allowed another run to scamper home.
• Wittenberg busted the game open with five unearned runs in the seventh thanks in part to a bases-loaded, two-out throwing error that cleared the bases and gave the Tigers the 7-2 lead. Witt added to its lead with a two-run double later in the inning.
• After the Tigers took the lead with a pair of runs on five hits in the second inning. It could have been worse, but a runner was doubled off second after leaving early on a sacrifice fly.
• Freshman Nick Silvis (Beavercreek, OH/Indian Lake) tallied Wilmington's lone RBI with a one-out double in the third. WC threatened more damage with runners on first and third with one out, but a foul out and ground out thwarted the threat.
• Junior Joshua Chua (Lancaster, England/Claremont [CA]) kept the game tied with a bases-loaded diving catch to end the fifth inning.
• Sophomore Alec Robinette (Lebanon, OH/Little Miami) took the loss in relief, allowing two runs (one earned) in two innings of work on two hits. Robinette issued four walks with one strikeout.
• Junior Jake Robinson (Westerville, OH/South) recorded Wilmington's only other extra base hit, a double. He also had one of WC's two stolen bases. Sophomore Jake Hyatt (Madeira, OH/Madeira) had the other.
