(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - The Quakers were swept by the Pioneers on Saturday evening. Prior to the doubleheader, Wilmington celebrated their seniors Caleb Fugate, Kyle Jennings, J.C. Calhoun, Trent Mendenhall, Dawson Blunt, Brent Case, Corey Moore, and Brad Miller.
Game 1 – 4-3 Loss to Marietta
After two outs, a walk and two straight singles drove in two runs for the Pioneers off Trent Mendenhall. J.C. Calhoun and Dominic Depa both singled in the bottom half but were stranded. The Pioneers tacked on a third run with an RBI triple to go ahead 3-0. The lefty found his rhythm and grooved through the lineup.
Bobby Fleming got the scoring started for the Quakers in the bottom of the 5th. Fleming led off with a single and Max Gildea singled behind him. Caleb Fugate was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Calhoun drove in Fleming with a sacrifice fly. Braden Chambers and Kyle Jennings both singled in the sixth but were left on base.
Marietta scored a run off Mendenhall with a two-out RBI single in the seventh. Fleming reached on an error as Fugate doubled him home to cut the deficit to 4-2. A single by Brody Julian drove in Fugate to put Wilmington behind 4-3. Corey Moore relieved Mendenhall with two men on in the top of the 8th but escaped the jam without any runs after a runner was cut down at third by Fleming from right field. The Quakers went down in order in the bottom of the 9th, losing game one 4-3.

In his final outing, Trent Mendenhall went 7.0+ innings, throwing 120 pitches. The senior allowed eight hits, four runs, three earned, while striking out six batters.
Game 2 – 5-4 Loss to Marietta
Marietta jumped out to a 4-0 lead off Brad Miller in game two. Multiple walks and singles fueled the scoring with a sacrifice fly bringing in the fourth run. Kyle Jennings and Max Gildea both singled in the bottom of the 2nd but were left on base. Miller got into a groove and earned an inning ending double play in the third.
Brody Julian ripped a two-out single in the bottom half. Braden Chambers reached on a hit to the shortstop as Dominic Depa walked to load the bases. Jennings singled to right, bringing in Julian to get Wilmington on the board.
Leading 4-1, the Pioneers scored a fifth run. Two hit by pitches led to an RBI single to extend the hosts lead to 5-1. Julian led off the bottom of the 5th with a single. Chambers reached on an error, and Depa dropped in a single to left field, scoring Julian to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Michael Cibulskas relieved Miller in the seventh and worked around a leadoff walk to hold the Pioneers to no runs. Julian again led off with a hit, a double to right. Depa swapped places with Julian, doubling him home to go down 5-3. Dawson Blunt relieved Cibulskas and dealt a scoreless inning. The Quakers threatened in the bottom of the 8th with a single by Gildea, a walk from Eli Hollingsworth, and a single from Julian. Wilmington ended up stranding all three men on base.
Brent Case took over in the ninth and delivered a scoreless inning. Depa led off with a double, scoring on a groundout from Fleming, as the Quakers fell in game two 5-4.
