Wilmington Falls at Home to Mount St. Joseph

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - The Quakers fell to the Lions of Mount St. Joseph 13-4 on Thursday evening.  

The visiting Lions got on the board with an RBI groundout against Brent Case in the first inning. J.C. Calhoun led off with a single but was stranded. JP Donelan relieved Case in the second inning. Bobby Fleming had a single in the bottom of the 3rd but did not score.  

Mount St. Joseph tacked on two runs off Donelan in the top of the 4th with three walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a single. Liam Denehy relieved the righty, allowing two runs. Corey Moore then replaced Denehy but allowed three more runs as Wilmington trailed 8-0. The Lions scored two runs off Dawson Blunt in the fifth, before scoring three off Anthony DeMassimo

Brody Julian walked, and Braden Chambers was hit by a pitch before Dominic Depa singled. Kyle Jennings worked a bases loaded walk, scoring a run. Jake Stephens had an RBI groundout, and Depa scored on a wild pitch as the Quakers now trailed 12-3. Calhoun and Julian hit back-to-back doubles, with Julian scoring Calhoun in the bottom of the 7th. 

Ahead 12-4, the Lions added one more run off Sully Wiswell in the eighth to take a 13-4 lead as they knocked off the Quakers on Thursday night.  

Notables 

  • J.C. Calhoun led the Quakers, going 2-4 with a run scored and a double. 

  • Brody Julian went 1-2, with one double, an RBI, a walk, and one run.
