(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team swam in a Senior Day dual against the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders Saturday afternoon in the Wilmington Natatorium, losing 152-108. Seniors
Austin Reed and Levi Hartscuh were honored before the start of the meet.
Continuing his great season was
Sondre Haugen, who won three individual events on the day. He won the 800 SC Meter Freestyle by 26 seconds at 8:46.21 and the 100 SC Meter Butterfly by two seconds at 57.39. His final individual race was the 400 SC Meter Freestyle, which he won by over 16 seconds, touching the wall in 4:13.30.
Also winning events were
Jo Pedersen,
Parker Basener, and
John Good. Pedersen was victorious in the 50 SC Meter Backstroke with a time of 27.43 seconds before finishing second in the 100 SC Meter Backstroke at 59.40 seconds, just behind Mount Union's Jacob Hathaway in 58.58 seconds. Basener took home the 50 SC Meter Breaststroke in 32.52 seconds, just out touching A.J. Quisno of Mount Union who finished in 32.84 seconds. Basener was also third in the 200 SC Meter IM with a time of 2:24.86. Good won the 50 SC Meter Freestyle in 24.15 seconds, just defeating Mount Union's Lucas Starling, who had a time of 24.60 seconds.
Austin Reed was second in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle at 2:02.91 and second in the 100 SC Meter Freestyle at 54.41 seconds, finishing just behind Mount Union's Dylan Cossin, who swam a time of 53.46 seconds. Reed also took third in the 50 SC Meter Butterfly at 27.35 seconds in a close race where the winner finished in 26.97 seconds.
Adam Moneypenny had a second-place finish in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:12.61.
The Quakers relay team of Good, Reed, Haugen, and Pedersen won the 200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay by almost three seconds in a time of 1:36.95 with Haugen swimming the fastest leg of 23.70 seconds.
The relay team of Good, Moneypenny,
Nathan Duerk, and Pedersen were third in the opening 200 SC Meter Medley Relay with a time of 1:55.67.
