(AKRON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team finished day two of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships in third place with 176 points.
Seniors
Sondre Haugen and
John Good led the charge for the Quakers during the day, both coming away with All-OAC honors.
Haugen won the OAC Championship in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a new program record time of 4:32.22, winning by over seven seconds and just missing out on an NCAA B cut in the event (4:31.24). The old program record was 4:32.59, set by Haugen himself last season. The OAC Championship is the third of Haugen's career and second straight in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
Good finished second in the 50 Yard Freestyle, touching the wall in 20.82 seconds and just finishing behind Ohio Northern University's Selby Wilt (20.70). This is the first individual All-OAC honor of Good's career.
Also competing in an A final for the Quakers was junior
Jo Pedersen in the 200 Yard IM. He just missed out on the first individual All-OAC honor of his career, finishing fourth in 1:54.93. Ohio Northern's Tyler Edmonds finished just ahead of him in 1:54.41.
Sophomore
Parker Basener won the B finals of the 200 Yard IM in 1:57.18, a time that would have placed him sixth in the A finals. Freshman
Bo Bindewald took second in the B finals of the 50 Yard Freestyle in 22.22 seconds. Juniors
Bryce Hensley (23.62),
Ryan Washburn (24.03), and senior
Jake Stein (24.16) also competed in the B final of the event.
Carson Duerk also competed in the B finals of the 500 Yard Freestyle, taking fourth with a time of 5:10.03, besting his prelims time by over four seconds.
The Quakers took third in both the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay and 400 Yard Medley Relay. In the 200 Yard Free Relay, the team of Pedersen, Good, Bindewald, and Haugen finished in 1:24.80. Haugen had the best time on the team in his 50 Yard relay at 20.68 seconds.
The 400 Yard Medley Relay team of Good, Basener, Haugen and Pedersen finished in 3:26.44.
