(HIRAM, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team lost to Hiram College Saturday afternoon in a close dual, 134-114. This drops the Quakers overall dual record to 1-4.
Their 400 SC Meter Medley Relay team got them off to a hot start with a dominant victory. The team of
John Good,
Parker Basener,
Sondre Haugen, and
Jo Pedersen set a new pool record at Hiram with a time of 4:04.87, which was just under six seconds better than the previous record.
Pedersen came back for Wilmington in the 1500 SC Meter Freestyle with a second-place finish at 18:32.77. Haugen followed this performance with a pool record showing in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle, as he finished in an incredible time of 1:57.30, which was nearly a second better than the previous record.
Good just snuck past Dayne Sauter of Hiram with a time of 1:03.53 for a win in the 100 SC Meter Backstroke, as Sauter finished in 1:03.86.
Adam Moneypenny was second in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke, touching the wall in exactly 1:16.00. Pedersen took the race in the 50 SC Meter Freestyle at 24.72, showing his range, going from swimming a 1500 to a 50 Freestyle.
Good dominated the 200 SC Meter Backstroke in 2:28.92, winning by over six seconds. Moneypenny earned another second-place finish in the 200 SC Meter Breaststroke at 2:53.45, with the winner finishing in 2:52.04.
Austin Reed took second in the 400 SC Meter Freestyle at 4:45.18. Haugen and Basener finished out the Quakers individual races with wins. Haugen won the 100 SC Meter Butterfly in 59.64 by over nine seconds while Basener earned a victory in the 400 SC Meter IM at 5:02.97 by a ridiculous 25 seconds.
The team of Pedersen, Reed, Good, and Haugen concluded the Quakers day with a win in the 400 SC Meter Freestyle by almost 17 seconds, touching the wall in 3:41.88.
