(LEXINGTON, Ky.) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team picked up their first win of the season Saturday afternoon, as they split their tri-match at Transylvania University. They lost to the host Pioneers, 155-98, but beat Wittenberg University, 132-88. The Quaker are now 1-3 overall this season in dual action.
Four Quakers won at least one individual event during the day, with sophomore
Jo Pedersen being the lone swimmer to win two. He started his day with a win in the 200 Yard Freestyle, taking the race in 1:49.25 before winning the 100 Yard Freestyle in 49.25 seconds. He won both these races by over two seconds.
Juniors
John Good and
Sondre Haugen along with freshman
Parker Basener all finished the day with one win and one second place finish. Good started his day with a one second victory in the 100 Yard Backstroke, touching the wall in 56.54 before swimming a 2:10.30 in the 200 Yard Backstroke to claim second place.
Haugen began with a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:05.45, before inching by Transylvania's Kole Brannock in the 100 Yard Butterfly. Haugen swam a 53.26 to Brannock's 53.43.
Basener dominated the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:14.13 to win by over eight seconds. He then fell by a slight margin in the 200 Yard IM at 2:06.24 to the Pioneers Joseph Kissing, who finished in 2:05.99.
Also turning in a solid day for Wilmington was senior
Austin Reed, who was third in the 200 Yard Freestyle at 1:54.21 and second in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:22.54.
The Quakers also won a pair of relays during the meet. They claimed the 200 Yard Medley Relay to start the day in 1:39.77 thanks to the team of Good, Basener, Haugen, and Pedersen. They ended their day with a dominant win in the 200 Yard Freestyle, winning by just under seven seconds at 1:30.34. This team consisted of Good, Haugen, Reed, and Pedersen.

Wilmington heads to Hiram College for a Saturday afternoon dual with the Terriers beginning at 1:00 P.M. on November 9th.
They snuck past the Terriers last season, 136-123 in the Wilmington Natatorium.
