WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team closes its 2023 home slate with an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) series against John Carroll University on Saturday. First pitch of the Senior Day series is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll (JCU). The Quakers enter the game with a 15-20 overall record and a 3-11 mark in conference competition. WC most recently defeated a pair of non-conference opponents at home: 16-2 over Berea College and 5-4 over Mount St. Jospeh University on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. The Blue Streaks stand at 21-11 on the season and 9-5 in league contests after splitting a doubleheader with No. 17 Marietta College last weekend.

He was an assistant coach with the program from 2014-19.

The Hitters: Five Quakers - Owen Baumann, Dominic Depa, Tyler Shaneyfelt, Evan Eilerman and Evan Kelsey - all hit over .300 with Baumann's .342 average leading the team. Shaneyfelt has set single-season records for runs scored (51) and stolen bases (34) and also leads Wilmington in walks drawn with 27. Caleb Scott has driven in 30 runs for the Quakers. The Pitchers: Zach Shepherd and Aaon Boster lead the Wilmington pitching staff as Shepherd has a 2.17 ERA and a 3-0 record in 37.1 innings while Boster has pitched 59.1 innings with 68 strikeouts. Trent Mendenhall, who got the victory in relief of WC's 5-4 win over Mount St. Joseph, has a team-best four victories. Matthew Aukerman is a perfect 6-0 for the JCU pitching staff with a .244 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 59 innings.
