Baseball Travels to Otterbein for OAC Twinbill on Wednesday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College baseball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a twinbill at Otterbein University on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Otterbein. The Fightin' Quakers enter the series with a 12-15 overall record and a 1-7 OAC mark after falling to the University of Mount Union in a pair of games. The Cardinals are 18-9 overall and 7-3 in conference contests after splitting a series with nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University.

The Coaches: Tony Vittorio, who formerly led the University of Dayton's baseball program for 18 seasons, enters his fourth season as Wilmington's head coach. For the first time in nearly a decade in 2021, the Quakers didn't finish 10th in the OAC, turning in an eighth-place finish with a 10-24 conference mark. George Powell is in his 23rd season as Otterbein's head coach. He's guided the Cardinals to over 500 victories during his tenure.

The Hitters: A quartet of Quakers – Caleb ScottDominic DepaEvan Kelsey and Aaron Burns – have driven in at least 20 runs with Scott leading the team in batting average (.400), doubles (11) and RBIs (31). Evan Kelsey and Tyler Shaneyfelt have stolen a combiend 30 bases with Jared Lammert having hit a team-best four triples. Brayden Quincel and Brayden Carter hit over the .400 clip for Otterbein while Sam Edgell has hit a team-best six home runs. He's also a perfect 12-for-12 in stolen bases.

The Pitchers: Aaron Boster and Luke Chappie have both pitched at least 30 innings for Wilmington with Boster leading the way in strikeouts (58) while carrying a 5.27 ERA. Jesse Reliford has two saves on the season and has a 4.26 ERA in 6.1 innings pitched. A trio of Cardinals - Nicky Zorne, Travis Burson and Logan Weber - have pitched over 30 innings with Zorne leading the way with a 3.44 ERA and a 4-1 record. He's also struckout a team-best 34 hitters.
