MARIETTA – The Wilmington College baseball team concluded the 2015 season by dropping a pair of games to perennial national power Marietta Saturday at Don Schaly Stadium in Ohio Athletic Conference action. The Fightin' Quakers dropped the first game, 6-0, and fell in the nightcap, 13-2.

Wilmington finishes the season 3-35 overall, 0-18 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

GAME ONE: MARIETTA 6, WILMINGTON 0

Wilmington went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position, and didn't have a runner past second base as Marietta claimed the 6-0 victory.

The Pioneers scored two in the second and fifth innings, and then added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Junior Tyler Schrock (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) was the only WC player with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Senior Mike Orahood (South Vienna, OH/Northeastern) recorded the only extra-base hit, a ninth-inning double.

Junior Corey Walker (Hillsboro, OH/Hillsboro) took the loss (0-7), allowing six earned runs on eight hits in eight innings of work. He struck out five and walked four.

GAME TWO: MARIETTA 12, WILMINGTON 3

Freshman Kyle Short (Trenton, OH/Edgewood) and junior Max Ramsey (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) combined for four of Wilmington's eight hits in the 12-3 loss.

Short went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Ramsey was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Wilmington opened the scoring on Short's two-out double that scored freshman Jake Robinson (Westerville, OH/Central), who led the game off with a single.

The Pioneers answered with a run in the first and three more in the second.

Short and Robinson were once again at the center of Wilmington's scoring threat in the fifth as Short doubled home Robinson with two outs. It would have been more, but Schrock was thrown out at the plate.

Once again, Marietta retaliated with two runs.

Three straight walks in the sixth inning loaded the bases for Wilmington with no outs. However, the scoring was limited to an RBI single by Ramsey.

Marietta ended the scoring with four runs in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Junior Billy Foster (Xenia, OH/Xenia) allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits over five innings to take the loss (1-5). He added three strikeouts in his outing.
