(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced their 2024-25 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and NABC Honors Court this afternoon.
The Quakers men's basketball team was honored with a team academic excellence award for the fourth straight season, which is achieved by ending the academic year with a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above.
Eight individuals were honored, with seniors
Christian Duniver,
Nick Malagreca Jr.,
Gavin Heimlich, and
Bryce Bird all earning the honor for the second time in their careers. Juniors
Zach McGuirt,
Collin Barker,
Jed Smith, and
Mauricio Diaz were all recognized for the first time in their time at Wilmington College.
You earn this distinction by being a junior, senior, or graduate student academically and being a member of the varsity team at a four-year institution.
Duniver was a Biology-Health Science major, Malagreca Jr. a Business Administration-Management major, while Heimlich majored in Education and Bird in Business Administration.
McGuirt is a Mathematics-Data Science major, Barker and Smith major in Education, while Diaz is a Criminal Justice major.
McGuirt, Barker, Smith, Bird, Heimlich, and Malagreca Jr. were all named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) in the winter while Bird, Malagreca Jr. and Heimlich also earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District recognition this season.
