Women's Swimming Takes Fourth at the Corbiere-Merion Invitational

(DELAWARE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's swimming team competed in the Corbiere-Merion Invitational over the last two days at Ohio Wesleyan University. They finished in fourth place with 395 points.

The Quakers best overall event of the weekend was the 100 Yard Breaststroke, where they had the Top-3 finishers. Senior Makenna Garn won the event in a time of 1:10.40, while junior Gabby Kuetemeyer was second at 1:13.65 and junior Sophia Mignery took third in a time of 1:14.31.

Kuetemeyer followed this up with two other second place finishes during the weekend. The first was in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:38.79 and the other in her final event of the weekend, the 400 Yard IM in 5:05.16.

Along with her victory in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Garn also tallied a third-place finish in the 200 Yard IM. She finished with a time of 2:22.86. The Quakers final top-three individual finisher was senior Sydney Overmyer in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, where she touched the wall in 20:00.58.

The Quakers also had a third-place relay finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The team of Overmyer, Garn, Kuetemeyer, and Mignery had a time of 1:59.34.

What's Up Next
The Quakers have nearly two months off before their next competition. On Friday, January 16th, they compete in a tri-dual at Anderson University (Ind.) that also includes Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opponent Heidelberg University. The meet is set for 5:00 P.M.
