(DELAWARE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team finished in second place this weekend at the Corbiere-Merion Invitational, hosted at Ohio Wesleyan University with 663 points.
Leading the charge for the Quakers with four event wins was senior
Sondre Haugen. He started off his meet with a pool record 4:37.63 in the 500 Yard Freestyle to win by nearly eight seconds.
He followed this up by breaking a 17-year-old program record in the 200 Yard Butterfly, as Haugen continues to rewrite the Quakers record book in his name. He won by over six seconds in a time of 1:54.36 and was the only swimmer to break two minutes.
His next feat was conquering the 400 Yard IM program record, as he touched the wall in 4:07.42 to win by over three seconds and continue his fantastic weekend. He closed out his meet by winning the 1650 Yard Freestyle in 16:32.55 and winning by over 27 seconds.
Junior
Jo Pedersen had the lone second place finish for Wilmington in the 200 Yard IM, as he swam a time of 1:58.40.
Sophomore
Parker Basener and senior
John Good both had a pair of third place finishes for the Quakers. Basener finished the 100 Yard Breaststroke in 58.49 seconds and the 200 Yard IM in 1:59.01.
Good took third in the 100 Yard Backstroke at 53.08 seconds, and just missed out on a Top-2 finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, touching the wall in 21.72 seconds. First place was 21.62 seconds and second was 21.63 seconds.
The Quakers finished in the Top-3 of four relays. It started with a third-place mark in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, as

Nathan Duerk,
Ryan Washburn, and
Andrew Patterson finished in 1:46.03.
Haugen, Basener, Pedersen, and Good touched the wall in 3:11.07 during the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay for a runner up finish, just edging out Ohio Wesleyan's 3:11.90. This same squad was second in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay at 7:10.76 and second in the 400 Yard Medley Relay in a time of 3:28.71.
