(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team had their home opener tonight against the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action. They dropped the dual, 159-83, but had several quality performances during the meet.
A pair of senior Quakers in
Sondre Haugen and
John Good won multiple events. Haugen won his first individual event, the 400 SC Meter Freestyle in a time of 4:20.07, besting the second-place finisher by over 11 seconds. His final individual event of the evening was the 200 SC Meter Free, where he was the lone competitor to break the 2:00 minute mark, finishing in 1:59.36 to win by over four seconds.
Good won the 50 SC Meter Backstroke in a time of 28.63 seconds, just edging out Selby Wilt of Ohio Northern, who touched the wall in 29.13 seconds. Good took his second backstroke event of the day, the 100 SC Meter Back by nearly three seconds, coming in with a time of 1:01.74.
The final win for the Quakers on the night came from junior
Jo Pedersen in the 100 SC Meter IM in a close affair. He just out touched Nathan Clark of Ohio Northern with a time of 1:02.50 to Clark's 1:02.54.
Sophomore
Parker Basener had a second and third place individual performance tonight. He took second in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.43 before a time of 32.31 seconds gave him third place in the 50 SC Meter Breaststroke.
The Quakers relay teams both finished in second place. The team of Good, Basener, Haugen, and Pedersen were just beaten in the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay with a time of 1:49.83, while Ohio Northern won in 1:49.36. The 200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay saw Good, Haugen, freshman
Bo Bindewald, and Pedersen take second in 1:41.98.
Bindewald also had a pair of individual third place finishes during the meet in backstroke events. He clocked in at 29.49 seconds in the 50 SC Meter Back and 1:05.23 in the 100 SC Meter Back.

The Quakers are back home in the Wilmington Natatorium next Saturday, November 1st for a 1:00 P.M. tri-dual meet with the Wittenberg University Tigers and Transylvania University Pioneers.
During their tri-dual last year with these two teams, Wilmington beat Wittenberg and lost to Transylvania.
