BEREA, Ohio - For the second-straight day, the Wilmington College softball team battled back from a game one defeat to earn a split of an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) doubleheader on Sunday. Host Baldwin Wallace University took game one 10-2 in five innings while the Fightin' Quakers won game two 4-1. 

Similar to game one yesterday, the Fightin' Quakers couldn't solve reining OAC Pitcher of the Year Nikki Camarati, who tallied two strikeouts an inning in the win. The Yellow Jackets were held scoreless in the first, but plated runs in each of the next four innings including a five-run fifth inning to close the contest.

Wilmington tallied four hits as a team including a two-run home run from Arianna Layne in the top of the fourth inning. Hayley Suchland, the Quakers' starting pitcher, had one hit and scored on Layne's home run while Lindsey Carter and Andrea Edmisten also had hits.

Alex Kozich, the lead-off batter for BW, went 3-for-3 with two runs scored while Ashley Matousek, Kami Miracle and Bridie Bricker all had multi-hit contests. Bricker led the Yellow Jackets with four runs driven in.

In game two, BW scored first on an RBI-single down the left field line in the bottom of the second, but a double play when end the inning. Starter Alexis Stringfellow settled in and would scatter three hits over the final six innings with no more runs surrendered.

It took a couple of innings for the Quakers' bats to get going, but Edmisten got things started by tying the game with a RBI-single down the left field line that scored Lizz Hadley. One inning later, Layne went yard, off of Camarati who relieved starter Hannah Welling, scoring two runs with a bomb to left field. Hadley followed that up with a triple and would late score on a wild pitch.

Both teams had seven hits, but the Yellow Jackets didn't field as well, committing two errors compared to zero for the Quaker. Layne and Suchland both had multi-hit games while Emily Mau went 3-for-3 for BW in defeat.

Wilmington (6-6, 5-3 OAC) faces Marietta College next weekend.
