Softball Has Four Players Named All-OAC Tuesday Morning

(WESTERVILLE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College softball team had four players named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) this morning. This is the second season in a row that the Quakers had four players honored.

Leading the way for Wilmington on the Second Team were sophomore first baseman Alaina Eldridge and freshman pitcher Megan Spence.

Eldridge led the Quakers in just about every offensive category this season, hitting a team high .429 with 54 hits, 14 doubles, seven homeruns, 29 runs batted in, and 89 total bases. She also tied for the team high with 27 runs scored and had a team high 126 at bats, while starting all 40 games for Wilmington. She was an all around tough out, only striking out two times all season, having at least one hit in 31 games and putting together 19 multi-hit games.

Spence excelled in conference play this season, winning three of her four games in the OAC. She pitched to a 3.03 earned run average and struck out 20 hitters in eight games and six starts in conference action. Overall, Spence threw a team high 78 innings and had 42 strikeouts in 22 appearances and 14 starts with three complete games, while adding two saves.

Freshmen Audrey Gildea and Kymberlin Masino were both Honorable Mention performers. Gildea was great both in the circle and at the plate for Wilmington this season. She was second on the team with a .336 batting average in 119 at bats with 40 hits in 39 games. Gildea hit five doubles, scored 19 runs, drove in 13 runs, and had 45 total bases. She had 12 multi-hit games.

In the circle, she led the team with 23 appearances, while also making 12 starts. She had a team high 45 strikeouts and seven wins over 74.1 innings, with four complete games.

Masino started 31 games for the Quakers, missing time due to injury late in the season. She hit .314 in 86 at bats with 27 hits. She was third on the team with 27 runs batted in and two homeruns, while also being tied for third with seven doubles. Masino also scored 16 runs and had 40 total bases.
