(NEW CONCORD, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's track & field team completed day one of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships this evening in fifth place as a team with 18 points.
Leading the charge for the Quakers was freshman
Lillian Dennis, who earned the first All-OAC honors of her career today in the Discus Throw. She finished in third place with a mark of 39.57 meters on her fifth attempt of the competition to score six points for Wilmington.
Also scoring in the Discus for the Quakers was
Mykell Bowen, who took seventh place for two points with a toss of 35.83 meters on her third attempt. Wilmington was the only team to have multiple athletes score in the event.
The Quakers had a pair of athletes score three team points with sixth place finishes in their respective events.
Sophia Hardwick took sixth in the Javelin Throw with a mark of 31.68 meters on her third attempt while
Kyla Rush was sixth in the Long Jump with a leap of 5.07 meters on her second attempt of the competition.
The Quakers 4x800 Meter Relay team of
Kyla Begley,
Morgan Blair,
Bryauna Bailey, and
Hayden Setty finished in fifth place with a time of 10:03.11 to score four team points.
Wilmington had a pair of qualifiers in the 400 Meter Hurdles in
Chloe Lovett and
Sophia Hardwick. Lovett was second overall, winning her heat in a time of 1:06.01 while Hardwick finished right behind her in their heat with a personal best time of 1:06.54 to qualify for tomorrow's finals.
