(WESTERVILLE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's track & field team competed at the Otterbein Twilight Meet last night, hosted at Otterbein University. The team finished in fourth place with 64.50 points.
The Quakers had a pair of athletes score points in multiple events in
Kyla Rush and
Mykell Bowen. For the second week in a row, Rush set a new personal best in the Triple Jump, hitting a mark of 11.17m on her fifth attempt and jumping over 11 meters for the first time in her career for third place and six points. She also set a new personal best in the Long Jump with a leap of 5.13m on her first attempt to finish seventh for two points.
Bowen scored five points in the Hammer Throw with a fifth-place finish at 48.04m on her fourth attempt. This was a personal best toss. In the Discus Throw, she finished seventh for two points at 38.12m on her fourth attempt.
Also scoring for Wilmington in the Discus was Lillian Dennis, who crushed her previous season best in the event, throwing 43.00m on her fifth toss for second place and eight points. This mark puts her in the Top-25 in Division III and sits as the best mark currently in the Great Lakes Region. She also was 10th in the Shot Put with a new season best mark of 10.78m on her first throw.
Three other Quakers scored in the Hammer Throw in
Amy Myers,
Lucy Trout, and
Amber Corll. Myers hit 47.94m on her third attempt for sixth place and four points, Trout was eighth at 45.53m for two points and Corll took ninth and one point at 44.55m.
Freshman
Morgan Blair ran under 18 minutes in the 5000 Meter Run for the first time in her collegiate career Friday night, crossing the line in 17:54.28 for second place and eight points. Senior
Chloe Lovett was third in the 400 Meter Hurdles in a time of 1:06.18 to score six points for Wilmington.
Andria Pollazek tied for seventh in the High Jump for 1.5 points with a clearance of 1.52m and was also 10th in her first career outdoor Triple Jump with a leap of 9.45m on her first attempt.
Scoring three points after a sixth-place finish in the Javelin Throw was
Sophia Hardwick at 29.58m on her fourth attempt.
The Quakers 4x400 Meter Relay team of
Hayden Setty, Lovett, Hardwick, and Rush won the race in a season best time of 4:03.91, winning by nearly two seconds for 10 points. The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Lovett, Pollazek, Rush, and Hardwick took fourth for six points in a season best time of 49.95 seconds.
