(LORAIN, Ohio) - The Wilmington College women's cross country team claimed their best team finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships since 2019 by claiming sixth place at Lorain County Community College on Saturday afternoon. It was a day of personal bests for a number of Quakers, and the culmination of a long, arduous season of training.
Â
Leading the Quakers over the line was sophomore
Morgan Blair, who raced through injury to finish 21st, just one slot shy of an all-conference selection, finishing just a bit off of her personal best in 23:12, although she outpaced her time from last season's OAC championships by nearly thirty seconds.
Â
The Quakers second finisher was senior
Hayden Setty, who ran a lifetime best of 24:08, outpacing the previous personal best race that she recorded at the OAC Championships as a freshman and finishing in 38th, while also peeling away nearly ninety seconds from her time at last season's OAC championships.
Â
Freshman
Sophia France continued a standout campaign with a personal best of 25:37, good for 67th place and the third scoring slot on the team. Sophomore
Addison Naus recorded a personal best of 27:03, a nineteen-second improvement from her performance at last year's OAC championships.
Â
The Quakers fifth was junior
Heather Dutenhaver, who recorded a personal best of 28:46 and finished in 102nd place. Freshman
Etta Moore claimed the team's sixth spot by crushing her previous personal best in 29:45, good for 105th place. Moore barely outkicked teammate and fellow freshman
Ryleigh Satterlee, who recorded a dominant personal best of 29:54 for 106th place en route to scoring for the Quakers for the first time this season.
Â
What's Up Next
It was a strong showing from a young team that showed toughness, grit and tons of promise for the future.
Â
The Quakers will look to continue this momentum in two weeks at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships in East Lansing, Michigan.
