Weight Throw and Shot Put Lead Women's Track & Field to Second Place at MoJoe Invite

(CINCINNATI, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's track & field team finished second at the MoJoe Invite today, hosted at Mount St. Joseph University with 116 points.

Their two most successful events were the Weight Throw and Shot Put. They had the top two finishers in the Weight Throw in senior Lucy Trout and junior Mykell Bowen. Trout won at 15.42m on her second attempt, just missing out on her career best mark of 15.48m. Bowen took second with a toss of 15.35m on her final throw.

Senior Amber Corll was fourth at 13.88m on her third throw, Jana Metz set a new career best mark of 13.64m on her second throw for sixth while senior Amy Myers was seventh at 13.60m on throw number two.

Senior Kaitlynn Hickey led Wilmington in the Shot Put in second place at 11.34m on her second attempt. Metz hit 10.23m for fourth place, Trout finished fifth with an indoor career best mark of 9.94m on her fifth throw, and Myers took sixth with her final toss of 9.38m. Freshman Lilian Dennis was eighth with a season best throw of 9.35m on her first attempt of the competition.

Sophomore Kyla Rush had a pair of Top-3 finishes in the Triple Jump and 60 Meter Dash. Her leap of 9.40m on her first attempt gave her second place in the Triple Jump and her time of 8.32 second claimed third in the 60 Meter Dash.

Junior Hayden Setty was third in the 800 Meter Run at 2:30.24 while Addison Naus competed in the event for the first time in her collegiate career and took fifth at 2:46.22. Anna Armstrong finished sixth in 2:55.28.

Sophomore Sophia Hardwick ran a career best 29.52 second 200 Meter Dash to finish in seventh place while freshman Kyle Begley completed the race for the first time in her collegiate career in 29.91 seconds for eighth place.

Freshman Morgan Blair smashed her previous season best 3000 Meter Run time today, as she took fourth in a time of 10:52.86. Freshman Leah Brackman set a new season best in the Long Jump of 4.23m on her third attempt for sixth place.
