(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – For the first time since 2018, the Wilmington College Women's Track & Field team hosted the JennaStrong Track & Field Invitational. They finished second in the meet with 110.5 team points and had 12 athletes score plus all three relay teams.
Leading the way with 14 individual points was freshman
Sophia Hardwick, who scored in both the Javelin Throw and the 100 Meter Hurdles. In the javelin, she threw a career best mark of 35.52m on her third throw of the competition to finish in second and score eight points. She took third in the 100 hurdles with a career best time of 17.02 seconds for six points.
Senior
Haley Cook scored 12 points for the Quakers, including winning the 400 Meter Dash in a time of 59.23 seconds. Her other two points came in the 200 Meter Dash, where she took seventh in 27.65 seconds.
Four other Quakers won an event. Junior
Faith Duncan ran a career best and facility record time of 4:32.28 in the 1500 Meter Run. This time is good enough for eighth in Division III this season.
Freshman
Chloe Lovett just edged out Mariah Maley of the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) to win the 400 Meter Hurdles in a career best time of 1:05.08 for 10 points.
Kaitlynn Hickey and
Mykell Bowen both won their respective throwing event. Hickey took the Shot Put with a career best mark of 11.56m, achieved on her fourth throw of the competition. Bowen won the Discus Throw at 36.78m on her very first throw.
Sophomore
Hayden Setty finished third in the 800 Meter Run with a career best time of 2:20.89 for six points. Freshman
Kyla Rush took fourth in the Long Jump for five points with a leap of 4.46m on her fourth jump of the competition.
Freshman
Precious Orock scored four points for Wilmington in the Shot Put, hitting a mark of 10.99m on her second throw to finish in fifth place. Senior
Jaineen Smith was seventh in the 100 Meter Dash at 14.15 seconds to score two points for the Quakers.
Sophomore
Emily Koch cleared 1.32m in the High Jump to finish in a tie for seventh place and score 1.5 points. In her first collegiate meet, freshman
Ashton Harris scored one point in the Discus Throw with an eighth-place finish after a 31.21m mark on her first throw.
The Quakers won both the 4x100 and 4x800 Meter Relay. The team of Rush, Cook, Lovett, and
Chloe Sutton took the 4x100 in 50.31 seconds while Setty, Cook, Duncan, and Lovett won the 4x800 in 9:45.38. The team of Sutton, Smith, Rush, and Hardwick were fourth in the 4x400 Meter Relay, finishing in a time of 4:38.00.
