(NEW ORLEANS, La.) – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field All-Region teams yesterday, and Wilmington College had four athletes honored. These athletes are
Faith Duncan,
JJ Durr,
Nathen Borgan, and
Noah Tobin. To earn this distinction, you must be one of the Top-5 individuals in an event from your region, in the case of Wilmington, the Great Lakes region.
Duncan becomes the first Quaker in program history to be named All-Great Lakes Region in three separate events. These events are the 5000 Meter Run, 3000 Meter Run, and the Mile. Last season, she was All-Region in the 3000 and the Mile, and competed at the Indoor National Championships in the 3000, where she was an All-American after finishing in seventh place.
She qualified for nationals in all three of these events this season but will only compete in the 5000 and the 3000 , where she is the No. 1 seed in both events. Her best time of the season before conversions are 16:07.53 in the 5000, 9:28.56 in the 3000, and 4:56.93 in the Mile.
For the fourth straight season, Durr is All-Great Lakes Region in the Weight Throw. He will be competing at nationals in the event for the fourth time tomorrow morning and was an All-American in the event last season after finishing in eighth with a mark of 19.22m. His other two seasons, he finished in 15th and 11th, respectively.
He has taken it to a whole new level this year and is the No. 1 seed heading into tomorrow after hitting a career best mark of 20.04m earlier this season. He has beaten all his Division III opponents this year, and the only event he lost was against Division I and Division II competition.
Borgan earned All-Great Lakes Region honors for the second straight season in the Weight Throw and will be looking to become a two-time All-American in the event tomorrow morning. He was seventh in the Weight Throw last March with a toss of 19.45m. He set a new personal best mark of 19.65m in mid-February and is the No. 5 seed in the event tomorrow morning.
Tobin earns the first indoor All-Region honor of his career. This came in the 5000 Meter Run, where he ran a personal best time of 14:27.90 at the GVSU Big Meet at Grand Valley State University on February 14th.
