Four Quakers Represent Wilmington at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships This Weekend

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – The Wilmington College men's and women's track & field team had four athletes qualify for the 2025 Indoor Track & Field Championships held on Friday and Saturday at the Golisano Training Center in New York.

Junior Faith Duncan will compete in both the 3000- and 5000-Meter Runs while seniors JJ Durr, Nathen Borgan, and Justin Shuga represent Wilmington in the Weight Throw.

Duncan was an All-American last season at the NCAA Indoor Championships for the Quakers in the 3000 Meter Run where she finished seventh with a time of 9:39.47. This season she comes in as the No. 1 seed in the event with a time of 9:33.45 and Jules Bleskoski of RPI is No. 2 at 9:34.25. The 3000 is scheduled for Saturday at 6:00 P.M.

She will also be running in the 5000 Meter Run on Friday afternoon at 5:10 P.M. This is the first time Duncan will run this event at the indoor championships, but she is no stranger to it. She was the outdoor National Champion in the 5k last spring with a time of 16:44.12 and is the No. 1 seed going into this race with a time of 16:14.98. The No. 2 seed is Penelope Greene of SUNY Geneseo at 16:32.54. Duncan was also the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Champion during the fall, dominating the competition with a time of 20:16.5 in the 6k.

The Weight Throw sees a trio of Quakers competing, which is the most from any school this season. The event is set for a 10:00 A.M. on Friday morning.

JJ Durr comes in as the No. 1 seed with a career best mark of 20.04m at the OAC Indoor Championships a few weeks ago. He is one of just two athletes to break 20 meters in Division III this season along with the No. 2 seed, Shane Anderson of Monmouth College (Ill.), who hit 20.00m on the dot.

Durr competes in his fourth NCAA Indoor Championships in the Weight Throw and will look to be a two-time All-American in the event. He was 11th in 2022 (17.79m), 15th in 2023 (17.95m), and 8th in 2024 (19.22m).

Also looking to become a two-time Weight Throw All-American is Nathen Borgan, who is competing in his second consecutive NCAA Indoor Championships. He was 7th in the event last season with a mark of 19.45m. Borgan comes into the championships as the No. 5 seed after a career best throw of 19.65m at the Tiffin University Robinson Family Open in mid-February.

Competing in his first career national meet is Justin Shuga, who earned the No. 18 seed after hitting a career best mark of 18.55m at both the OAC Indoor Championships and Polar Bear Final Qualifier meets. Shuga has made a big jump this season, as heading into the year his best career throw was 18.17m. He looks to become an All-American for the first time in his Quakers career.
