(DELAWARE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's swimming team competed at the Corbiere-Merion Invitational over the last two days, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. The Quakers finished in third place out of six teams with 624 points. The top two teams were Ohio Wesleyan with 785 points, and the winner Davis & Elkins College with 924.5 points.
The Quaker with the most success this weekend was sophomore
Gabby Kuetemeyer, who won one individual event and was second in three other events. She began her individual weekend yesterday in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, where she touched the wall in 1:11.32 to take second place. Kuetemeyer followed this up with a second place performance in the 200 Yard IM, swimming a time of 2:23.19. Her final second place finish came in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, where she finished in 2:37.66. Kuetemeyer's last individual race was her best, where she crushed everyone by nearly five seconds in the 400 Yard IM at 5:03.19.
The other Quaker with an individual win was junior
Makenna Garn, who won the 100 Yard Breaststroke, ahead of Kuetemeyer with a time of 1:09.60. Garn also competed individually in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
Sophomore
Alaina Reynek was third in the 200 Yard Butterfly for the Quakers, touching the wall in 2:38.36. She also competed individually for Wilmington in the 500 Yard Freestyle, 100 Yard Backstroke, and 1650 Yard Freestyle. She just missed out on a top-three finish in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, taking fourth at 21:18.94 while third finished in 21:18.60.
In relays, the Quakers had three third place finishes. The team of junior
Sydney Overmyer, Kuetemeyer, freshman
Brenna Beadle, and Garn were third in the 200 Yard Medley Relay at 1:58.93. Overmyer, sophomore
Sophia Mignery, junior
Alayna Fierman, and Kuetemeyer took third in the 400 Yard Medley Relay at 4:28.92. The final third place relay consisted of Overmyer, freshman
Adisson Houdeshell, Beadle, and Garn who finished the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:48.32.

This concludes the first portion of the Quakers 2024-25 season. They return to action in 2025 at the Wilmington Natatorium on January 11th against Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) foe Heidelberg University and Anderson University (Ind.) at 1:00 P.M.
