Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ALLIANCE — Wilmington College dropped both ends of an Ohio Athletic Conference softball doubleheader at Mount Union on Sunday.

The Purple Raiders took game one, 10-0, and finished the sweep with a 6-1 victory over the Quakers.

Wilmington is now 0-4 in OAC play, 10-8 overall. Mount Union is 3-1 in the conference, 11-7 for the season.

"It was a tough day. We played better in the second game, but we just need to work on being more consistent in the three key phases of the game," Wilmington head coach Beth Floyd said.

Big innings led to an abbreviated opener as Mount Union scored five runs in the second inning and four more in the fourth.

Brooke Byrne (Wilmington), Christine Tiell (Tiffin/Columbian) and Holly Sheets (Richwood/North Union) accounted for the Quakers' three hits.

Another big inning broke open a close encounter in game two.

Mount Union took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, but exploded for four runs.

Wilmington got its lone run in the top of the seventh when Stacy Lunsford (Wilmington/Clinton-Massie) doubled and later scored on a Sheets sacrifice fly.

Kaylee Cox (Prospect/Elgin) led the Quakers with two hits.

Wilmington will host Centre in non-conference play on Wednesday.
