Box Score 2 BEREA — Wilmington College was swept by Baldwin-Wallace in an Ohio Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Saturday afternoon.
Baldwin-Wallace won the opener, 5-0, and took game two by a 3-1 score.
Wilmington is now 2-12 in OAC play, 13-17 overall. Baldwin Wallace moves to 9-5 in the conference, 21-8 for the season.
In the opener, Wilmington managed just three hits off Baldwin-Wallace pitching. Two of the Quakers' hits came off the bat of freshman pitcher Catlin Shilling (Waverly). Stacy Lunsford (Wilmington/Clinton-Massie) had Wilmington's other base hit.
The Yellow Jackets won the game with clutch hitting as four of their five runs were scored with two outs.
In game two, the Quakers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Brooke Byrne (Wilmington) singled and scored on an RBI single from Danielle Monnier (Houston).
The game stayed 1-0 until Baldwin-Wallace tied the score with a run in the third and plated two more in the fourth to account for what proved to be the final score.
Byrne had two of Wilmington's five hits.
Monnier was solid in the circle, giving up five hits and three runs in six innings. The freshman struck out six.
