Quakers swept by Otterbein

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WESTERVILLE — Wilmington College dropped both ends of an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader at Otterbein University Wednesday afternoon.

The Cardinals took game one, 10-0, and finished the sweep with a 6-0 victory.

The Quakers are now 2-6 in the OAC, 13-11 overall. Otterbein improves to 4-4 in the conference, 15-9 for the season.

The story of the day was Wilmington's inability to get its offense untracked. After scoring 13 runs on 22 hits in a sweep of Heidelberg on Sunday, the Quakers managed just four total hits against Otterbein.

In the opener, Otterbein scored four two-out runs in the second inning and added six more in the third.

Holly Sheets (Richwood/North Union) had two of Wilmington's three hits. Christine Tiell (Tiffin/Columbian) added a single for the Quakers.

In game two, Otterbein scored in its first three at-bats to take a 6-0 lead into the fourth inning.

Wilmington was held hitless until Sheets singled up the middle in the top of the seventh.

Errors proved costly in both games for Wilmington — eight of Otterbein's 16 runs were unearned.

Wilmington will host Muskingum in an OAC twinbill Saturday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
