(NEW CONCORD, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's track & field team won their first meet of the season today at the Muskie Pride Meet, hosted at Muskingum University. They finished the meet with 145 points.
Winning individual events for the Quakers today were senior
Gabe Moore, junior
Keegan Kidd, and freshmen
Griffin Roell and
Larreon Brodie. Moore won the Mile in a new personal best time of 4:37.32, just edging out Washington & Jefferson University's Daniel Petersen, who finished in 4:37.64.
Kidd won the 1000 Meter Run in 2:43.03, which was over 12 seconds better than second place. Roell won the 500 Meter Dash in 1:07.31, just beating teammate
Donovan Mosley, who finished in 1:07.72. These are new personal bests for both athletes. Roell is now sixth in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) in the event, while Mosley is eighth.
The Quakers had the top-four throwers in the Weight Throw.
Larreon Brodie won at 16.19m on his final attempt. Senior
Brandon Mitchell hit a personal best mark of 14.31m on his second toss. Sophomore
Gustav Jonsson finished third at 14.09m while freshman
Blake Midlam was fourth in a personal best mark of 13.81m.
Midlam also had a personal best toss in the Shot Put, finishing fourth at 13.02m. Freshman
Zion Ford had a personal best in the Shot Put as well at 11.79m for seventh place.
The Quakers had two top-eight finishers in the 200 Meter Dash, where seniors
De'Anta Sanon and
Darryl Story finished in fourth and seventh respectively. Sanon finished in 23.42 seconds while Story ran a personal best time of 23.76 seconds.
Freshman
Ethan DeRoest and sophomore
Trey Sparks both had seventh place finishes. In the mile, DeRoest finished in 4:49.98 while Sparks cleared 1.78m in the High Jump.
Blake Kanniard and
Neka Bukasa had eighth place finishes. Kanniard finished the 800 Meter Run in 2:12.61 while Bukasa ran the Mile in a personal best time of 4:55.63.
The Quakers won both the 4x200 and 4x400 Meter Relays. Sanon, Mosley, Story, and
Brendan Bornemann won the 4x200 Relay in 1:32.60 while Mosley, Bornemann, Roell, and Kidd won the 4x400 Relay in 3:28.73.
