Jerry Scheve to be Inducted as Lone Member of 2025 Hall of Fame Class on September 27th

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College athletics department announced their 2025 Hall of Fame Class today, and the lone member being inducted this year is Quakers legendary women's basketball coach Jerry Scheve, who coached the team for 30 years.

"Jerry's success on the court is unparalleled and he sustained excellence for so many years," said Director of Athletics Matt Croci. "Our women's basketball program was a nationally recognized brand thanks to Jerry, and the impact he made on so many people on and off the court is incredible. We are honored to induct him into the Quakers Hall of Fame."

Scheve led the 2004 women's basketball team to the only team National Championship in Wilmington College history, concluding in a 59-52 victory over Bowdoin College in a game that will live on forever in Quakers history.

During his time on the sidelines Scheve amassed 518 victories, which as of 2021, was 36th all-time in Division III history. He had 11 seasons with 20 or more wins and four seasons with 25 or more victories. The Quakers won four OAC regular season (2002, 2003, 2005, 2007) and tournament championships (2002, 2003, 2004, 2007), while making it to the NCAA Tournament six times (2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008).

Scheve passed away in May, but his memory will last forever, not only for his accomplishments on the court and in the classroom as an accounting professor, but for his recent $23 million donation to the college. This gift will go towards the creation of the Scheve Athletic Center and the Jenna Parlette Running Center, among other program and facility upgrades.

There will also be a Hall of Champions inside the new athletic center named after not only Scheve, but former men's soccer coach Bud Lewis and former football coach Bill Ramseyer, who are also member of the Quakers Hall of Fame.

The groundbreaking for the Scheve Athletic Center and Scheve-Ramseyer-Lewis Hall of Champions will be on Saturday, September 27th at 11:00 A.M. Scheve's induction into the athletic Hall of Fame will immediately follow the groundbreaking, as all former women's basketball players and coaches are invited to attend the reception. The reception includes other Wilmington Hall of Famers and school community members.
