(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - The Wilmington College baseball team earned the the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award today, becoming one of nearly 750 member schools to do so. This is their second consecutive season earning the honor. To be recognized, your team must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the 2024-25 academic year.
Leading the way for Wilmington were seven players who were named Academic All Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), a distinction you needed a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 to earn. These athletes were
Brayden Kisling,
Kyle Jennings,
Trent Mendenhall,
Jay Utterdyke,
JP Donelan,
Max Gildea, and
Eli Hollingsworth.
Luke Chappie, Donelan, Gildea, Jennings, and Mendenhall were also recognized on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team this summer, which is an award where at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA is needed among other athletic requirements.
Wilmington will begin their 2026 baseball season this spring. Â
