(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) – The Wilmington College men's cross country team competed at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional today, finishing in 22nd at 599.
For the second year in a row and third time in the last four years, the Quakers had a pair of runners finish as All-Great Lakes Region honorees. In 2022, Simon Heys,
Noah Tobin, and George Rickett all finished as All-Region while last year, Tobin and
Tate Yoder earned the honor.
For the second year in a row today, Yoder finished as All-Region in his final collegiate cross country race. He finished one place better than last year, in 21st, crossing the line in 25:41.44. He bested his time in Louisville earlier this season by nearly 30 seconds (26:09.1).
The other Quaker to finish with All-Region honors was
Gabe Moore, doing it for the first time in his career. He finished the race in 24th at 25:43.05, which was a little over 10 seconds better than his Louisville race in early October. Wilmington was the only Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) school to have more than one runner finish in the Top-25.
Freshmen
Simeon Williamson and
Ethan DeRoest finished in the Top-200 during their first trip to regionals. Williamson just edged out his first race in Louisville, finishing in 156th at 27:47.12, while he ran a 27:47.7 in October. DeRoest crushed his first time, taking 179th at 28:11.82, while he ran a 28:32.1 during their first trip.
The Quakers final scorer was junior
Cameron Chatfield, who ran a personal best 8k time of 30:05.76, as he concludes a season in which he got better every single race. He looks to take that momentum into track & field season.
