WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College football team couldn't get anything going on either side of the ball as John Carroll University (JCU) shutout the Fightin' Quakers 59-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest at Williams Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Streaks (3-1, 3-0 OAC) were stopped twice in the first half with one of those stops being an interception by Zac Schmidt near the WC goal line. The visitors would take a 31-0 lead into halftime and scored at least two touchdowns in each quarter to earn the win. Wilmington's best play in the game was a 66-yard punt from Jarod Lee in the third quarter.

John Carroll, which held Heidelberg University under 150 yards of total offense in a win last week, outgained Wilmington 641-98 in the game and featured a balanced offensive attack with 266 yards through the air and 375 on the ground on 50 carries. The visitors converted 7-of-11 third down attempts while the hosts moved the chains just once on 14 tries on third down.

JCU quarterback Joe Collins finished the game 22-of-28 with four touchdowns and the lone interception. Four Blue Streaks - Demerius Goodwin, Mason Sullivan, Evan McVay and Isaac Novak - had at least six carries for 60 yards with Gabe Lawson joining the first three in rushing for a single touchdown. Wide receiver Joe Torok was targeted 10 times and hauled in seven receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Tyler Thimons led the way with seven tackles and a sack.

Wilmington used three quarterbacks in the game - Adam Dixon, Derek Larimer and Bryan Kearse - with Dixon completing 11-of-22 for 59 yards. Nehemiah Jenkins carried 13 times for 35 yards. Jenkins and Ace Taylor both caught five passes in the contest. Defensively, Austin Aiello and Schmidt each had 10 tackles while Lee had eight and Quentin Davis six. 

The Quakers (3-2, 2-2 OAC) have a bye week next week before heading to Marietta College on Oct. 15.
