Football Travels to Zanesville High School to Face Muskingum Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College football team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with its first road test of the season against Muskingum University at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Due to field renovations going on in New Concord, the game will be played at Zanesville High School.

The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers enter the contest with an 0-2 record including an 0-1 conference mark after a 62-27 defeat at the hands of Ohio Northern University on Saturday. The Fighting Muskies began their season with two wins, but were shutout 18-0 at Marietta College over the weekend.

The Coaches: Bryan Moore, a 1999 graduate of Hiram College, begins his fifth season leading Wilmington's football program. Moore began instilling his vision on the program having brought in three large freshman classes, and that has paid off on the field with multiple victories each of the last two seasons. Previously, Moore spent time at both Bluffton University and Heidelberg. Erik leuter enters his third season as Muskingum's head football coach. The Muskies have won eight games under his leadership.

The Offenses: Derek Larimer has thrown for 856 yards in two games at quarterback in his first year as Wilmington's starting quarterback. A trio of wide receivers – Ace Taylor, Itika Wynn Jr. and Gavin Foushee – have hauled in seven or more passes and tallied over 100 yards. Jamaun Clark and Dallas Rawlings join Taylor and Foushee with two touchdown receptions each. Jordan Garrett has completed 54-of-110 passes for 652 yards and four scores for Muskingum. Donny Wilkinson and Garrett split the rushing duties has each have rushed over 30 times while Zuri Edmondson has a team-best 212 yards receiving.

The Defenses: A duo of linebackers – Xzerious Stinnett and Jarod Lee – have both over 20 tackles for the Quakers' defense while Brandon Lemley has a team-best 2.5 sacks. Quentin Davis and Tavion Bryant join Stinnett in forcing two fumbles while Elijah Carson has two interceptions, both against Ohio Northern. The first of those two interceptions was returned 47 yards for a touchdown. Azarious Williams and Tristan Howell both have over 20 tackles for Muskingum while Brian Brown and Cortez McGinnis join Howell with an interception.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 30.5, Muskingum 27.3, points per game allowed – Wilmington 51.5, Muskingum 18.3, yards per game – Wilmington 402.0, Muskingum 347.0, yards per game allowed – Wilmington 537.0, Muskingum 311.7, passing yards per game – Wilmington 305.5, Muskingum 236.5, passing yards per game allowed – Wilmington 428.5, Muskingum 177.0, rushing yards per game – Wilmington 96.5, Muskingum 110.3, rushing yards per game allowed – Wilmington 108.5, Muskingum 134.7.
