WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College football team returns home for one final time in the fall of 2021 when the Comets of Capital University come to Williams Stadium for a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday.
The Teams: Wilmington and Capital. The Quakers are looking for their first win of the season after a 50-7 loss at nationally-ranked John Carroll University on the road on Saturday. The Comets are 2-6 overall and most recently fell 38-33 to rival Otterbein University 38-33 at home.
The Coaches: Bryan Moore, a 1999 graduate of Hiram College, begins his fifth season leading Wilmington's football program. Moore began instilling his vision on the program having brought in three large freshman classes, and that has paid off on the field with multiple victories each of the last two seasons. Previously, Moore spent time at both Bluffton University and Heidelberg. Brian Foos is in his second season as Capital's head football coach. The 2000 Otterbein alumnus most recently served as offensive coordinator at Baldwin Wallace University.
The Offenses: Derek Larimer quarterbacks the Wilmington offense and averages over 185 yards per game with six touchdowns and an efficiency rating of 113.7. Itika Wynn Jr. has hauled in 36 receptions for 480 yards and two scores while a trio of Quakers - Dallas Rawlings, Ben Hobbs and Tyreeq Nebbitt - have all carried over 40 times and average nearly 30 yards per game. Capital has used four quarterbacks thus far this season with Ben Everson leading the bunch at 848 yards and eight touchdowns. A trio of Comets – Drew Engle, Everson and Lance Matthews – have rushed for over 200 yards.
The Defenses: Tre'Quez Parks leads Wilmington in total tackles (67) and tackles per game (11.2) while Jarod Lee and Xzerious Stinnett are the other two Quakers to tally at least 35 tackles. Tavion Bryant has a team-best 2.5 total sacks while Quentin Davis and Elijah Carson both have two interceptions. A quartet of Comets – Nick Fisanick, Mike Auofo, James Curtis and Jack Blaisdell – have over 40 tackles with Blaisdell leading the way at 16.5 tackles for loss.

Senior Day: The game marks the final home game for the careers of 21 seniors – Tre'Quez Parks, Ace Taylor, Tavion Bryant, Itika Wynn Jr., James Crowder, Ameer Jackson, Tim Triplett, Eli Berner, Chandler Wren, Broderick Smith, Corey Talmadge II, Brent Ponikvar, Perry Gardiner, Kolten Winter, Dylan Fawley, Logan Hubbard, Ben Petry, Caleb Deaver, Brandon Lemley, Tyler Bray and Brandon Weaver. A brief ceremony will be held prior to kickoff.
Series History: Wilmington is 4-17 against Capital since becoming a member of the OAC prior to the 2000 season. The Quakers have won the last two meetings. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
