Polar Bears defeat men's tennis

DAYTON – The Wilmington College men's tennis team fell to Ohio Northern Tuesday in Ohio Athletic Conference action, 9-0, at the Five Seasons.

The Polar Bears got off to a fast start by winning all three doubles matches in identical 8-0 fashion. The first doubles pairing was Justin Arehart (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) and Josh Kincaid (Loveland, OH/Goshen), while the second doubles team was Connor LaVelle (Athens, OH/Athens) and Cullen Corcoran (Wilmington, OH/Clinton-Massie). The other doubles tandem was Jesse Ingels (Morrow, OH/Little Miami) and Ron Sansone (Norwood, OH/Norwood).

Arehart fared the best of the Wilmington singles, falling in the first singles flight, 6-2, 6-1. LaVelle and Corcoran were each able to win a game as LaVelle fell, 6-0, 6-1, in second singles and Corcoran was defeated, 6-1, 6-0, in fourth singles. Kincaid (third singles), Ingels (fifth singles) and Sansone (sixth singles) were all defeated by the score of 6-0, 6-0.

Wilmington (1-8) is scheduled to return to the courts Thursday, hosting Heidelberg in OAC competition.
