(MARYVILLE, Tenn.) – The Wilmington Quakers battled the Maryville Scots to a scoreless draw Sunday afternoon in the final match of the Maryville College Fall Classic at the MC Soccer Complex.
In the first half, the Quakers generated 11 shots to the Scots' six, creating multiple scoring chances. Caleb Redding posted back-to-back shots on goal in the 27th and 28th minutes, but both attempts were saved by Maryville.
In the 30th minute, Eli Eyrich fired a shot toward the top-right corner that was once again saved by the Scots. Nine minutes later, Akol Malow's attempt toward the bottom center of the net was also turned away. In the final seconds of the half, Brayden Spencer's low shot was stopped by Maryville to keep the match scoreless at the break.
Similar to the first half, Wilmington continued to generate opportunities after halftime, but each attempt was turned away by Maryville. Erik Axelsson and Wilmington's back line matched the Scots' defensive effort, including stopping two shots on goal in the final 10 minutes of the match. Neither side found a breakthrough as the match ended scoreless, with both teams recording a clean sheet.

Wilmington returns home to begin a four-match homestand. The Quakers open the stretch against Transylvania at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Williams Stadium.
