(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington Quakers were defeated by the Transylvania Pioneers 1-0 on a rainy Wednesday evening at Williams Stadium.
The visiting Pioneers found the back of the net from distance in the 15th minute to take a lead they would not relinquish. After recording a shot on goal in the fifth minute, the Quakers were unable to put another attempt on target over the final 40 minutes of the opening half.
Trailing by a goal, Wilmington applied pressure in the second half with chances from Aidan Barnishin and Caleb Redding in the 53rd and 57th minutes, respectively, but both attempts were turned away by Transylvania.
The Green and White generated two more dangerous chances in the 64th and 78th minutes. William Jansson put an attempt on goal in the 64th before Brayden Spencer followed with another in the 78th, but both were saved by the Transylvania goalkeeper.
Wilmington was unable to find the equalizer before the final whistle, falling 1-0 for its first setback of the season.
