Quakers Crush Giants 3-0, Improve to 5-1

(FACTORYVILLE, Pennsylvania) – The Wilmington Quakers defeated the Keystone Giants in straight sets Friday afternoon at Gambal Athletic Center. With the win, the Quakers won their road opener and improved to 5-1 on the season.

The visiting Quakers trailed 12-7 in the opening set before rattling off a 9-4 run to tie the frame at 16-16. Wilmington, sparked by two service aces from Aubrey Clark and a pair of kills from Brinlee Preston, then scored nine of the final 12 points en route to a come-from-behind 25-19 victory in set one.

The Quakers, led by two kills from Addison Sparks, carried their momentum into the second frame, opening the set with a 13-5 scoring surge. Although Keystone closed the gap to four, the Quakers responded with a 6-0 run highlighted by two aces from Logan McQuillin and two kills from Magee Fain to take control of the set. Wilmington closed out a 25-16 victory with back-to-back kills from Preston and Paige Shouse.

The final set was tightly contested, with neither team able to build a lead of more than three points until late in the frame. The Quakers attacked at an efficient .324 clip and delivered four kills down the stretch to secure the sweep. With the score tied at 20-20, Sparks, Fain and Clark recorded kills before Fain delivered another to help Wilmington pull away for a 25-21 victory.

  • Wilmington held a 39-28 advantage in kills.
  • Magee Fain led Wilmington with a team-high and season-high 11 kills. Addison Sparks also posted a season-high seven kills.
  • Emma Specht paced the Quakers with 18 assists, while Jana Metz added 12 for the Green and White.
  • Logan McQuillin tallied 11 digs, marking her fourth match with double-digit digs through six matches.

Next Up

Wilmington continues play at the Keystone College Classic with two matches Saturday, Sept. 12. The Quakers take on Elmira at 10 a.m. before facing Mount Saint Vincent at noon.
