(ST. LOUIS, Missouri) – The Wilmington Quakers defeated the Webster Gorloks 1-0 at Worldwide Technology Soccer Park on Saturday afternoon.
Both defenses dictated the tone of the match in the opening half, with the Quakers managing just one shot on goal while Webster was held without a shot on target. Despite two corner kick opportunities for each team, neither side was able to consistently generate chances in the box.
Wilmington increased the pressure in the second half, generating nine shots to Webster's four. Despite the advantage, goalkeeper Emma Storck was called upon to make two crucial saves on Webster shots in the 73rd and 77th minutes to keep the match scoreless.
Following an 89th-minute yellow card on Webster, Wilmington capitalized on the ensuing free-kick opportunity. Jaice Neumaier found the back of the net for the late game-winner, giving the Quakers a 1-0 advantage.
Wilmington held on through the final minute to claim the road victory and improve to 4-0-1 on the season.
