(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Wilmington College baseball team dropped a pair of games Wednesday afternoon at Capital University, 9-5 and 15-1.

Game 1 – Capital Defeats Wilmington, 9-5
The Quakers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the fourth inning. They got their scoring started in the second with a two-out Avery Battle single up the middle for a 1-0 lead. They scored two runs in the top of the fourth on a Battle RBI walk and a fielder's choice.

A six-run bottom of the fourth from Capital doomed the Quakers. Wilmington scored a run in the fifth and seventh innings but couldn't complete a comeback.

Game 1 Notables

• J.C. Calhoun tied for the game-high with three hits while Kyle Jennings added two.
• Avery Battle had two RBI.
• Caleb Fugate walked twice.
• Jake Stephens and Dominic Depa both scored a pair of runs.
• Depa and Calhoun hit one double apiece.
• Calhoun stole two bases.
• Quakers pitching struck out 10 Comets, being led by Brad Miller's five and Max Gildea's four.
• Trent Mendenhall had a scoreless inning of relief with one strikeout.

Game 2 – Capital Defeats Wilmington, 15-1
The Quakers had runners in scoring position in the first and second innings but didn't break through for their run until the fourth frame. Max Gildea hit a single that was followed by a Kyle Jennings double into left center field. Gabe McDowell had an RBI ground out to third base.

• Kyle Jennings led the Quakers with two hits and had a double.
• Gabe McDowell had an RBI.
• Quakers pitching had seven strikeouts, being led by Bobby Fleming's three and Josh Ruwe's two.
• Corey Moore, Nathan Powers, and Javier Serantes all threw a scoreless inning of relief.
