Eldridge’s Walk-Off Blast Secures Game 1 Win Over Anderson

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - Wilmington earned a thrilling 7–5 walk-off win over Anderson in game one behind Alaina Eldridge's late heroics, before inclement weather forced the cancellation of game two.

Game 1 – 7-5 Win over Anderson

Maddie Starnes led off the bottom of the 1st with a single, and advanced to third on an error. Alaina Eldridge drove in Starnes with a sac-fly, as Alasandra Spears doubled home Hattan to go up 2-0. Anderson got a run back after a double off Megan Spence in the top of the 2nd. The Ravens tied it up with a single and a double in the top of the 3rd.

Wilmington added two more runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Hattan singled to lead off, stole second, and after Audrey Gildea worked a walk, Ashley Jo Hardesty ripped a bases clearing triple to right field. Trailing 4-2, Anderson scored two runs from two different rundowns to tie the game 4-4.

Hattan walked to lead off the bottom of the 5th, as Eldridge doubled her to third. A sac-bunt by Gildea drove in Hattan to take a 5-4 lead. The Ravens tied it again off Spence in the top of the 6th. Gildea relieved Spence in the top of the 7th and fired a scoreless inning. Maddie Starnes opened with a single in the bottom half. After a sacrifice bunt, Eldridge crushed the first pitch over the left field fence for a towering two-run walk-off home run.
