(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - Wilmington splits with Wittenberg after a dominant offensive performance in game two, taking the second contest 12-8 after falling in five innings.
Game 1 – 1-10 Loss (5 Inn.) to Wittenberg
The visiting Tigers put up three runs against Megan Spence in the first inning off a two-RBI double and a sacrifice fly. Wilmington went down in order through the first six outs until Spence had a leadoff single in the bottom of the 3rd, but she was stranded. Leading 3-0, Wittenberg singled twice and doubled in two runs, forcing Spence out in the top of the 4th, now trailing 5-0.
Audrey Gildea relieved Spence with one out, as the Tigers added four more runs off three singles and a double to extend their lead to 9-0. Jobey Hattan walked to open the bottom of the 4th as Alaina Eldridge doubled her home for Wilmington's first and only run of game one. Wittenberg added a tenth run in the top of the 5th after a two-out triple and a single to go ahead 10-1. Spence and Addysen Stevens both singled in the bottom of the 5th, but the Quakers stranded three as they lost game one 10-1.

Game 2 – 12-8 Win over Wittenberg
Belle Baughman navigated around two straight singles, with a nifty double play from Jocelyn Franz, Ashley Jo Hardesty, and Grace Cline to escape the jam scoreless. The Quakers' bats erupted in the first inning. Jobey Hattan worked a one-out walk, followed by another RBI double from Alaina Eldridge to score Hattan. Alasandra Spears and Hardesty both slugged back-to-back RBI doubles to take a 3-0 lead early. Grace Cline singled through the middle to score Hardesty, as Addysen Stevens singled through the left side to score Cline.
Leading 5-0, Baughman worked a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 2nd. Wilmington turned another smooth double play as Franz caught the line drive and tagged the runner out at second. Opening the bottom of the 3rd, Audrey Gildea led off with a single. Hardesty collected another RBI, singling Gildea home to go ahead 6-0. The Tigers got on the board with three hits and three runs in the top of the 4th, now trailing 6-3.
The Quakers added four more in the bottom half. Maddie Starnes walked as Hattan singled behind her. Eldridge, on a 1-0 count, sent a laser out of the ballpark over the left field fence for a three-run home run. Ahead 9-3, Cline drove in the tenth run with a sacrifice fly. Baughman allowed two more runs, leaving the game with a 10-5 lead. Maddie Geminden relieved her, but struggled, as the Tigers added one more to cut the deficit to 10-6. Wilmington added two more after three straight walks, a fielder's choice, and a groundout to lead 12-6. Audrey Patel relieved Geminden and worked a 1-2-3 inning in the 6th before allowing two runs in the 7th. With two outs, two runners on, and the tying run on deck, Megan Spence relieved Patel and got the final out on one-pitch to take game two 12-8.
