Quakers Drop Saturday Doubleheader to Muskingum

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - Wilmington drops both games to Muskingum on Saturday afternoon.

Game 1 – 4-1 Loss to Muskingum

Both sides were scoreless through two frames, with Megan Spence stranding three runners up until the top of the 3rd. A hit-by-pitch and a single put the Muskies in scoring position, until an unassisted double play by Jocelyn Franz got the lead runner out. The next batter took Spence deep, putting the visitors ahead 2-0.

The Quakers got on the board in the bottom of the 4th. Alaina Eldridge and Audrey Gildea each singled to open the frame. Laying down a sacrifice bunt, Ashley Jo Hardesty reached on an error while bringing across one run for the Quakers. Wilmington ended up stranding Hardesty and Gildea in scoring position, but the deficit was cut to 2-1.

Muskingum tacked on two more runs in the top of the 5th. A wild pitch brought in the third run, before a rundown between second and first scored the fourth run for the visitors. Trailing 4-1, Gildea singled in the bottom of the 6th but was left on base. Spence came back out for the top of the 7th and struck out the final batter she faced. She led off the bottom half with a single, and Grace Cline worked a walk. Wilmington ended up leaving both on base, falling 4-1 in game one.

Game 2 – 11-0 Loss (6 Inn.) to Muskingum

Muskingum put up a four spot to open game two. After a walk and a single, a one-out single plated two runners.
