(ADA, Ohio) - Quakers drop game one to Ohio Northern as game two is called for weather, forcing a resumption on Sunday at Bluffton.
Game 1 – 6-4 Loss to Ohio Northern
Jocelyn Franz and Alasandra Spears worked two straight walks in the top of the 1st but were stranded. Belle Baughman retired the side in order in the bottom half. Audrey Gildea led off with a single but was also left on base. The Polar Bears crushed a two-run homer in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 2-0 lead. The Quakers' offense remained stagnant, after Spears and Alaina Eldridge singled, they were both stranded.
Wilmington finally broke through in the top of the 5th. Franz roped a leadoff single, followed by two straight singles by Spears and Eldridge to plate home Franz. Trailing 2-1, Ashley Jo Hardesty crushed a two-run double to give the Quakers a 3-2 lead. After a pitching change, Gildea singled home Hardesty to push their lead to 4-2.
Ohio Northern answered with two runs, both unearned, in the bottom of the 5th. Tied 4-4, the Quakers stranded Hadley Von Bargen in the top of the 6th. The hosts worked a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 6th. A double drove in that run, forcing in Audrey Patel for Baughman. A sac-bunt brought in the sixth run for Ohio Northern. The Quakers went down in order, dropping game one 6-4.

What's Up Next
The Quakers host Muskingum on Saturday afternoon. Wilmington will resume game two versus Ohio Northern on Sunday, at Bluffton. The Quakers will look to reschedule their doubleheader at Transylvania for a later date.
