Roca Nets 10 to Tie Program Record as Quakers Down Spalding 16-11

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - Nick Roca's 10 goals ties the program record, joining Garrett Reigelsperger, as the Quakers win their fourth straight game by taking down Spalding University 16-11 on Wednesday night. 

The Golden Eagles got on the board first, scoring at the 10:46 mark. Tyler Cunningham put the Quakers on the board just three minutes later. The pair traded goals, including one by Brandon Osborne and Nick Roca in the second quarter. Spalding took a 4-3 lead at the 11:10 mark in the second, before Roca took over.  

Roca scored four straight goals, putting Wilmington ahead 7-4 with under five minutes left until halftime. Tyler Cunningham and Danny Fitzpatrick added two more goals to extend the lead to 9-4.  

Spalding answered with the first goal of the second half, but Roca and Danny Fitzpatrick extended the Quakers lead to 11-5. The hosts came within three, trailing 12-9, before Dawson Fitzpatrick scored and Roca had three more goals, icing Wilmington's 16-11 win over Spalding on Wednesday night. The senior scored in the last remaining seconds of the game to secure his tenth goal, tying the program's single game goal record.  

Notables 

  • Nick Roca scored 10 goals to tie the Quakers' single-game goal record. He is the first to do so since Garrett Reigelsperger scored 10 just six days ago against Brevard College. Roca is also tied with Jhordan Lang (2017) and Jacob Snyder (2023) for the most goals ever scored in single game program history. The senior has had four straight multi-goal games, coinciding with Wilmington's four-game win streak. Roca's previous career high in goals was six, against La Roche in 2025. 

  • Roca set a new single game program record with 16 shots on goal. His 24 total shots are third all time, and his 10 points are tied for sixth all time.  

  • Danny Fitzpatrick scored two goals and dished out one assist. He took eight shots with six on goal, while grabbing three groundballs and causing one turnover. The freshman has scored in five of six games, including four multi-goal performances.  

  • Tyler Cunningham added two goals, taking six shots with three on goal. He had two groundballs. Cunningham has scored in two straight games. 

  • Brandon Osborne had one goal, taking five shots with two on target. The freshman has scored in back-to-back games. He led Wilmington with three caused turnovers and was second with five groundballs. 

  • Sam Snyder and Sincere Gleaton each dished out two assists. Snyder led the Quakers with eight groundballs, and Gleaton had three.  

What's Up Next 

The Quakers begin their conference games with a trip to the University of Mount Union on Saturday at 3:00 P.M. Wilmington is looking for their first ever win against the Purple Raiders since the program's return.
